2012 Edition - São Luis - Maranhão

The Brazil National Tourism Mart - BNTM, held from the 9th through the 13rh of May in 2012, at Ceprama - Maranhão Craft Center, on its 21st edition, gathered representatives of the national and international tourism market, as well as goverment and institutional bodies, related to the national touristic trade. The present report highlights the main approaches taken in this event and executes a brief account of the activities developed to carry it out, making also an evaluation of the results obtained to the event-hosting state, as well as the benefits brought to the region.

Since 1992, the BNTM promotes the meeting and exchange of northeastern products in both domestic and international markets. The Integrated Tourism Commission of the Northeast (CTI / NE), event organizers, increased the fair to invite for the first time, domestic buyers, in addition to international. For the 2012 edition, the organizers had the participation of about 309 international operators, called buyers, and 382 national retail providers, called suppliers. At BNTM in 2012, it was calculated a business volume of around US$ 250 million.

Visitors with a potential buyer profile landed in the capital coming from 35 countries including: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia , Spain, USA, France, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, India, England, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and Uruguay.

In addition to the buyers and suppliers the event included the participation of government exhibitors from nine states of the Northeast, approximately 117, and institutional, 246. Adding to these figures the various guests and professionals dedicated to the event infrastructure, circulated by BNTM 2012 approximately 1,127 people. The 21st BNTM had the essential support and sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism / Embratur, Chesf, Sebrae. The stock exchange also counts with the directors, CTI / NE Foundation, the State of Maranhão, besides the airlines TAP and TAM.
